Never Forget

  1. For those who want us to forget:

“War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.”
    John Stuart Mill

  2. Benny:

Thank you for those words of Mill. I teach in a place that constantly preaches that all war is evil, that there is never a reason for war. I try, in my own small wa, to remind my students that there are some things for which one must be willing to fight – otherwise, why live?

This ninth anniversary should remind Americans, just as that very sunny September 11, 2001, that our freedom is just a terrorist away from being destroyed. If we are unwilling to fight for those freedoms which we claim to hold dear, then we deserve the very condemnation which the jihadists so openly celebrate.

We chould never forget, nor should we rest easy.
